THE Chairman of Punch Nigeria Limited, Mrs Angela Emuwa, on Thursday advised women in the media to be self-driven in their chosen career.

Emuwa gave the advice while speaking as the special guest at the Women in the Media Hang-out, organised by the Women in Media Development Initiative.

Speaking on the theme ‘Career and personal development in media,’ Emuwa urged women to learn how to project themselves with confidence, adding that they should continually look for ways to develop themselves.

She said, “Women in the media need to always project themselves with confidence and in order to achieve this, you need to always have information, read a lot so that you will be able to answer anything you are asked about in your area of specialisation. Make sure you keep up with current trends and don’t allow anybody to pull you down and always look for ways to improve yourself.

“Do your research before going for an interview; look for an area where you have a passion, research thoroughly on it and develop yourself. Dress properly and don’t allow anybody to intimidate you.”

The coordinator of Women in Media Development Initiative, Lola Oladimeji, noted that the programme was organised to help women in the media to become better at their job.

“Women in Media Development Initiative was set up to enhance the capacity of women who work in the media, to ensure networking, bonding and help one another grow in the media.”
